Sacred Heart and St Cecelia’s parishes have received an invitation from Rabbi Charles Popky and the membership of the White Meadow Temple to join them in an interfaith program regarding Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass, to be held at the White Meadow Temple located at 153 White Meadow Road, on Sunday, November 6th at 7 PM. This week is the last opportunity to register for this event.
The program will be in observance of Kristallnacht, an organized Nazi pogrom marking the first deportation of Jews to concentration camps. North Jersey HaZamir, part of an international teen vocal group, will present choral selections appropriate for this occasion, following which we will view a documentary film, “Margarit-NotA23029,” produced by Peppy Margolis, Director of Cultural Outreach T Raritan Valley Community College.
There are some disturbing scenes from the Holocaust in the film; therefore, we recommend this program for adults and teens of at least high school age who are informed about its content in advance. Both the producer and Margit Feldman, the main character of this film, will be attending and will participate in the discussion that follows. Ms. Feldman was born on the same day of the same year as Ann Frank, and both were sent to the same concentration camp, however, unlike Frank, Ms. Feldman survived.
Following the program coffee and dessert will be served. Father Zig will be attending. Please notify the rectory if you will be attending no later than Thursday, October 27th so that we can notify the temple of how many of our parishioners will be in attendance.
